We come to Cancale mainly to taste oysters. The endemic flat oysters have been gradually replaced by Japanese oysters due to illnesses. Go to the end of the pier and you can eat them on site from the producers who sell them directly on the docks.

The first lighthouse below the Pointe des Crolles in Cancale was built in the 1860s. Only thirty years later, the adjoining short dam was expanded to a usable even by larger boats mole. Finally, in the 1930s, a new lighthouse replaced its outdated predecessor.
