The Theaterplatz Dresden is one of the central squares in Dresden's Old Town and an important hub between cultural and museum buildings.
Directly on the square stands the famous Semperoper Dresden, one of the most famous opera houses in Europe. Opposite is the entrance to the Zwinger Dresden, a Baroque ensemble with a courtyard, gardens, and museums.
The Theaterplatz is also framed by other historic buildings such as the Hofkirche and the Residenzschloss. Today it serves as a lively meeting point, event location, and starting point for many visitors to Dresden's Old Town.

The Theaterplatz is the square in front of Dresden's Semperoper, the former court theatre; its name is derived from this. It is located on Sophienstraße between Postplatz and Augustusbrücke. It borders directly on the outer bank of the Elbe bend in front of Dresden's Old Town, and is thus elevated above the Elbe.
