The collegiate church in moderate neo-Gothic style was built in 1892/93 as a single-nave hall church and extension of the Elisabethenstift by Reinhard Klingelhöffer. The facade was originally also rhythmically structured in the choir by pointed arch windows and buttresses.
Unfortunately, the church was destroyed in 1943/1944 down to the surrounding walls. In the years 1954 to 1958, a simplified reconstruction of the church took place, and in 1959 of the tower, according to plans by Karl Gruber. The glass windows in the choir are by Helmut Uhrig.
