From the panoramic trail above the Hirschhorn bend in the Neckar River, there is an impressive view of the so-called Ersheim Chapel – actually the Catholic cemetery church of St. Nazarius and Celsus. It is considered the oldest church in the Neckar Valley and was first documented in 1345. A predecessor building likely existed on the same site as early as the 8th or 9th century. Until the 17th century, it served as the parish church for Hirschhorn and also as the burial place of the Knights of Hirschhorn.
