Hiking
Once you leave the overfilled Arashiyama Bamboo Grove you cross a nice and serene public park down to the river Katsura. Instead of going back to the bridge you turn right and enter the park again through narrow steep flight of stairs and pathways until you come to a set of lookouts above the river. Nice.
