Behind the cathedral, in a side street, stands this globe. It points to the scholar, mathematician, and physicist Lampert, who was born here. The pillar originally stood nearby his birthplace, was moved in 1858 and only returned to Place Lambert at the end of the 1980s/beginning of the 1990s. The building directly behind it is now the Maison du Patrimoine Édouard Boeglin; Lambert's birthplace was located there.
