This section of the Finnskogleden runs along the flanks of Baksjøberget. The border here was an important crossing point for refugees during the Second World War. It was the crossing of the 'Spiker’n’ route, which saw refugees arrive in Namnå from Oslo. They’d then be guided through the forest through the night and cross into Sweden. The route remained undiscovered throughout the war.
