    Hiking

This is a nice trail along the creek that passes a few waterfalls and has some shaded spots to get out of the sun. The water level is highest during the spring melt season, then the wildflowers pop out for some extra eye candy.

The Willow Creek Trail loop from Bass Lake is a fantastic moderate hike that takes you deep into the Sierra Nevada scenery, following Willow Creek upstream. You'll wind through peaceful pine forests and over granite outcrops, with the main attractions being the stunning Angel Falls and Devil's Slide, where the creek cascades over smooth rock. Expect varied terrain and some moderate uphill climbs, making it a rewarding journey for those ready for a bit of a workout.

This 5.0-mile (8.1 km) loop involves 1033 feet (315 metres) of elevation gain and typically takes about 2 hours and 32 minutes to complete. The trail is generally open from May through October, with spring offering the most dramatic waterfall views, though surfaces can be slippery then. Dogs are permitted on leash, so you can bring your furry friend along for the adventure.

Beyond the waterfalls, the trail offers glimpses of Bass Lake as you ascend, and you might even discover Native American grinding holes at the top of Devil's Slide, hinting at the area's long history. The creek itself, the primary inflow for Bass Lake, flows through narrow granite canyons, creating multiple small pools perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm day.
