Hiking

beautiful old town with winding streets.
The hollow paths start already below the gate via Porta di Sovana.
Above the paths you have to follow the little traffic road for about 1 km, but you will be rewarded with a view of the city.
The paths can become smooth after rainy weather.

Hiking

The village of Pitigliano is located in the so-called “area del tufo”: You stand on a base made of tufa, from which the houses protrude like natural growth: the buildings are built both on and in the stone - which you notice when you look at the basement and enters the basement of bars and shops in the old towns; these are mostly nothing more than caves carved into the rock. Sometimes you can also see windows from the outside that are set directly into the rock.
