The Henry Hill loop from Poplar Ford Park offers a unique blend of easy hiking and profound historical immersion. This 4.3-mile (7.0 km) route, with a modest 234 feet (71 metres) of elevation gain, guides you through the open, grassy pastures of Manassas National Battlefield Park. You'll walk past significant landmarks like the Henry House and the Henry Hill Monument, experiencing a landscape that has remained largely unchanged since the Civil War. It's an easy hike, typically completed in about 1 hours and 50 minutes, making it ideal for families and history enthusiasts.

To plan your visit, head to the Manassas National Battlefield Park visitor center, where the trail begins. Parking is readily available there. Since much of the trail is exposed with little shade, remember to bring sun protection and adequate water, especially on warmer days. Pets are welcome to join you, provided they remain on a leash throughout the hike.

This trail is more than just a walk; it's a journey through a pivotal moment in American history. The park's commitment to preserving the battlefield's original appearance allows you to truly visualize the events that unfolded here, including where "Stonewall" Jackson earned his famous nickname. Beyond its historical significance, the grasslands and forests support over 160 bird species, adding a natural element to your exploration.
