    Hiking

Fairly expensive to visit but lovely grounds with woodland and lakeside walk. Can hire rowing boats or pedallos on the lake. The castle was the childhood home of Ann Boleyn.

Hever Castle loop — High Weald

    20m

Embark on an easy hike around the historic Hever Castle grounds, a picturesque journey through Kent's countryside. This 2.3-mile (3.7 km) loop features only 65 feet (20 metres) of elevation gain and takes approximately 57 minutes to complete. You will wander through ancient woodlands, along the winding River Eden, and across rolling fields, enjoying views of the 38-acre lake and the castle itself. Look for seasonal wildflowers, with daffodils in March and April, and bluebells appearing in late April and early May.

This easy route is suitable for nearly all fitness and skill levels, offering a gentle outdoor experience. While the paths are generally accessible, be prepared for potentially rutted and muddy sections, especially between December and April, and choose your footwear accordingly. The trail is perfect for a leisurely walk, allowing you to soak in the natural beauty and historical atmosphere at a relaxed pace.

The Hever Castle loop is particularly notable for its direct association with Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. As you follow the Lake Walk, you can observe historical remnants like three Second World War pillboxes that once defended the River Eden. The route also provides glimpses of the castle's impressive garden features, including the Italian Garden, Rose Garden, and Yew Maze, adding a rich cultural layer to your outdoor adventure.
