    Cycling

No cycling allowed through the tunnel, but if you give it a few minutes is pretty easy to catch a ride through with another park visitor.

    Road cycling

Cycling isn't allowed through the tunnel, and there is space to pull over off the road at the entrance. You can try to hitchhike through, or turn around and enjoy the switchbacks down the canyon.

For a touring bicycle ride that showcases Zion's incredible geology, the Zion—Mount Carmel Highway loop from Zion Human History Museum is a solid pick. This moderate 7.0-mile (11.3 km) route, with 972 feet (296 metres) of elevation gain, takes about 52 minutes and guides you from the gentle riverside paths of the Pa'rus Trail to the dramatic, towering red rock cliffs of the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. You'll then encounter the stunning, swirling rock formations and vibrant desert landscapes of the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway, offering a diverse visual feast.

Planning your ride requires attention to a few key details. Cyclists are not allowed to ride through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel, so you'll need to arrange alternative transport for that 1.1-mile section. During peak season, the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is mostly car-free, making for a more peaceful ride, but remember to pull over for shuttle buses. Parking is available near the Zion Human History Museum, and an early start is recommended to beat the crowds and heat.

This route is notable for its accessibility and iconic views. The Pa'rus Trail is one of the few areas in Zion National Park open to both bicycles and pets, and it's also wheelchair accessible. The Zion Canyon Scenic Drive and Zion-Mount Carmel Highway offer world-renowned vistas of Zion's unique geology, including the famous Great Arch and Pine Creek Waterfall trail, making it a truly memorable cycling experience.
