It was rebuilt in 1982 on a new foundation.
The traditional merchant's house had been home to the "Gemeinde- und Kolonialwarenhandlung P. Zeyn" with shops, offices and storage rooms since 1793,
which developed over time into a paint shop.
The Kupferhof itself is a privately built street in the 16th century. Here, at the former overflow of the Blickgraben (the city moat, filled in 1929/30) into the Schleusengraben, there was a copper hammer and a water-powered sawmill.
