Surrounded by Mediterranean forests of pine and cork oak, Llagostera is ideal for hiking and cycling, especially along the Carrilet II Greenway, which connects Girona with Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Places such as the Coll de la Creu d'en Barraquer offer panoramic views. Its cultural life includes the Festa Major in August and events such as the Fira del Bolet (mushroom fair). It is a town with medieval origins, whose name comes from "lacustaria", related to ancient lagoons. Its historic centre preserves the 14th century walls, towers and the Plaça del Castell, which houses the remains of the old castle. The Església de Sant Feliu, Gothic style with Baroque elements, located in the centre, is noteworthy. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Llagostera experienced an economic boom thanks to the cork industry, which turned the town into an important production centre in Catalonia.
