The Wrixum windmill was in operation until around 1960, after it had to be rebuilt 10 years earlier after a fire.
In 2016, the municipality of Wrixum bought the mill and is now striving to rebuild it, together with the Wrixumer Mühlenverein e.V.
Financed by events and fundraising, the mill is to be restored to its original condition and also to grind grain again.
