A former storage site for "marogna" (inert waste produced by the combustion of coal in the Breda blast furnaces), the Montagnetta was later abandoned and transformed over time into a veritable open-air landfill.
The project to transform the landfill into a green slope filled with plants was achieved by shaping approximately 50,000 cubic meters of fertile soil and planting trees and shrubs.

Industrial origin: arose on the waste heaps of the Breda blast furnaces, reclaimed between the 1980s and 1990s.
Location and extent: located in the southern sector of Parco Nord Milano, straddling Milan (entrance via Suzzani) and Sesto San Giovanni.
