Hiking

The late Gothic valley church was built around 1430 as a residential church and burial place for the Lords of Eppstein. It replaced a Romanesque chapel from the 12th century. The church, which was consecrated to St. Lawrence until the Reformation, consists of a single nave. Originally there were four altars. A rood screen separated the choir from the nave. Four portrait tombstones commemorate the once powerful noble family Eppstein-Münzenberg, whose last male heir died in 1494.
