This is the site of the original Reinheim cabin, built in 1888 by Johan Fredrik Hjerkinn before it was acquired by the Norwegian Trekking Association. The nearby Snøheim was built in 1952, while what is now Reinheim was built in 1961 in Stroplsjødalen. This original cabin was eventually demolished and a cairn now pays tribute to its memory.
