The building that now houses the Maison des Arts et Loisirs in Laon has a rich history. Originally a Hôtel-Dieu, built in the 13th century, it served as a hospital and was later used for various purposes, including a recruitment office, a grain market, a school and a market.
In 1931, the building was converted into a market hall, and in the 1970s it was transformed into the current Maison des Arts et Loisirs. The building is located in the heart of the medieval city, close to Laon Cathedral.
