The abandoned monastery was converted into a canonry in 1066. Canons are an association of clergy who lived together like monks (“vita canonica”) but did not take vows as secular clergy. They were probably recruited from the Sindelfingen upper class. They originally lived together near the church in buildings that have since been demolished. Later they lived in separate buildings, canon houses, such as the building at Stiftstrasse 2, corner of Ziegelstrasse.

Hiking
One of the usual Sindelfingen farmhouses, the building at Stiftstraße 2, probably never was. The common people call it the canons' house. But the final proof has not been provided. The city of Sindelfingen wants to spend around 1.766 million marks on the preservation and renovation of the building. Stuttgart architect Ralf Lemberg took stock in August 1985.
