It was named after its founder, Philipp Gans Edler Herr zu Putlitz, who had it built at the end of the 16th century. The manor house, which still stands today, was built in 1895. At that time, the estate comprised about 662 hectares of land. After the Second World War, the manor house was nationalized and served as a primary school until 2005. After a renovation in 1995, it stood empty for some time and was finally auctioned off in 2005.
