This state park isn't where the Santa Fe River begins, but rather where it makes a dramatic reappearance. This “resurgence” is a result of Florida's fascinating geological makeup, where limestone allows water to easily dissolve and create underground caverns. The Santa Fe River simply follows this hidden course for a while before re-emerging at River Rise.
