The “Ludwig Temple” on the Bischberg is more of a spacious viewing pavilion than a typical temple. However, it offers a wonderful panoramic view of Aschaffenburg and the Lower Main Plain. Originally built in July / August 1879 by master locksmith Michael Hock on behalf of the Aschaffenburg Beautification Association and named after King Ludwig I, he was transferred to the pheasantry in 1936/37. There the Ludwig Temple fell victim to the chaos of war. It wasn't until the 1980s that it was reconstructed in the form of a pentagon in its old place.
