The Green Market in Weimar's old town is a street located between the market square and the New Guardhouse, opposite the Bastille of Weimar City Palace at Burgplatz, and ending at Platz der Demokratie (Democracy Square). Between it and Schlossgasse (Castle Lane) lies Obere Schlossgasse (Upper Castle Lane).
The street gets its name from the fact that it most likely once served as a vegetable market.
