Mountaineering

The hike from the Gelmerbahn valley station to the Gelmersee 🚶‍♂️ is a real adventure for anyone who loves spectacular landscapes! Start your tour at the valley station of the steepest open funicular in Europe 🚠 and follow the well-marked hiking trail. The climb is challenging and requires surefootedness 🥾 as the path is narrow, steep and rocky.

You will ultimately be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains 🏔️ and the deep blue Gelmersee 🌊, which is surrounded by rugged rocks and alpine flora 🌼.

Once you reach the bottom, you pass a small lake and eventually you reach the road. If you cross the road, you come to another wonderful hiking area! To the left, it goes roughly towards the Grimsel Pass and to the right again towards the Gelmerbahn. The Grimsel area is very worthwhile!
