Het Oude Diep

To be honest, at one point all that remained of the Oude Diep was a drainage ditch that ran through the meadows and fields towards Hoogeveen. Could we actually restore the stream from the past, they wondered in 1995 at Het Drentse Landschap. Together with the water board, province, municipalities, and waste processor VAM, a major nature development project was launched to restore the Oude Diep to its natural character as much as possible.
