Pochet Island

You will begin your journey on Nauset Beach, where you can enjoy the vast rolling sand dunes and expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean. The trail then leads you across a distinctive wetlands footbridge, transitioning to Pochet Island where paths wind through peaceful woods, past charming cottages, and across scenic salt marshes.

To make your hike more enjoyable, plan your visit for low tide; this helps with walking on the soft sand and avoids a potential wading section. If you are looking to avoid crowds, consider visiting during the cooler months. Parking at Nauset Beach is free after September, offering a convenient starting point for your adventure.

This unique coastal route is nestled within the beautiful Cape Cod National Seashore, providing a chance to observe various bird species, including piping plovers. While Pochet Island is privately owned, the owners graciously permit public access for hikers, allowing you to explore its natural features and diverse landscapes.
