Alfonso I (in Portuguese Dom Afonso I; * 1109 (?) in Guimarães or Viseu or Coimbra; † 6 December 1185 in Coimbra) was Count of Portucalia (1112–1139) as a vassal of the Kingdom of León and founder and first king of Portugal (1139–1185). He was a descendant of a side branch of the royal house of the Capetians. In Portugal he is mostly called Dom Afonso Henriques ("King Alfonso, son of Henry").
