Hiking

The Monument of Friendship of Peoples is a monument on the Elbe river promenade in Magdeburg, which recalls the idea of international friendship and cooperation between peoples. The monument was erected during the GDR era and symbolically stands for peace, solidarity, and understanding between different nations. It is typical of the art of the time in public spaces, which expressed political and social messages in the form of sculptures. Its location directly on the Elbe makes the monument a well-visible point along the promenade, which is often passed by walkers and cyclists.
