The traditional weekly market takes place in the pedestrian zone on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A main thoroughfare until 1990, this section of Obernstraße became a roughly 500-meter-long pedestrian zone following the construction of the "Am Schmiedeberg" relief road through the city center.
