The St. Jakobi Chapel was built in 1868 according to plans by the state architect Carl August Wilhelm Lohmeyer. The simple half-timbered building was supplemented in 1915 by the slightly raised choir and the tower. Further renovations took place in 1978, namely the reconstruction of the dilapidated tower and the renovation of the outer facade in 2013.
The old altarpiece, which probably dates back to 1868, now has its place above
the entrance door. It shows an image of Christ as the Lamb of God and bears the inscription
"God is love".

Hiking
The St. Jacob Chapel in Basedow has a long history. The first documented mention of a chapel there dates back to 1579, but it likely existed much earlier. The current chapel was built in 1868 by C.A.W. Lohmeyer. During renovations in 1978/80, it received its current name: St. Jacob.
The chapel has its own chapel board, which, among other things, also performs the voluntary sexton service and takes care of all the needs of the chapel congregation. Independent chapel boards and the appointment and participation of patron representatives are still unique to Lauenburg. This has been the case since 1585.
