The war memorial for those killed in the world wars was erected around 1928 on the north side of the Chapel Square. The sculptor Franz Hoser created a canopy resting on three pillars in the neo-baroque style. Below it is a Pietà.
The Pietà, also known as the Vesperbild or Marian Lamentation, is the visual arts depiction of Mary as Mater Dolorosa (Our Lady of Sorrows) with the body of Jesus Christ taken down from the cross.
The war memorial is entered in the list of monuments.
