If you take the Gentle Trail from the main parking area, it's only a couple hundred meters to the overlook of Blackwater Falls. This is a pretty distant viewpoint, but it's a different perspective than the normal head-on view of the falls. Even though it's really close to the parking lot, it's not usually a very crowded spot.
