Starting from Southold, it's an accessible option for most cyclists. While much of the route is paved, be prepared for some potentially unpaved sections. For the best experience, consider cycling during the spring or fall to enjoy pleasant weather and avoid peak summer crowds.

This loop is a fantastic way to explore the North Fork's charm, reminiscent of a bygone era. Orient Beach State Park itself is a 363-acre natural gem, featuring Long Beach, a 2.5-mile sand spit recognized as a National Natural Landmark for its unique plant succession.
