The sculpture is the artistic and plastic implementation of the monastery coat of arms of the Benedictine abbey Kloster Plankstetten by the artist Alfred Böschl. The deer is a reference to the founding family of the Plankstetten monastery, the counts and Hirschberg and the Moorish lady Blanca, from whom the place name "Blancstetten" probably derives. The cut in the stone is intended to symbolize the canal that divided the monastery village of Plankstetten into two parts.
