The Sag Valley Yellow Loop offers a tranquil escape into a surprisingly diverse landscape, perfect for a refreshing jog. You'll wind through dense woodlands, past bluffs, ravines, and wetlands, with sections of packed dirt and crushed limestone underfoot. Keep an eye out for wildflowers in spring and summer, and enjoy the rich variety of plant life and wildlife, especially within the Cap Sauers Holding Nature Preserve.

This moderate 3.2-mile (5.2 km) jogging route features 178 feet (54 metres) of elevation gain, which you can complete in about 35 minutes. Be aware that underpasses can hold standing water after heavy rain, and the trail is shared with cyclists and equestrians. For the best scenery, plan your visit during late spring for blooms or in autumn for colorful foliage.

Part of the larger Palos Preserves, this trail provides a sense of stepping into a storybook, despite its proximity to Chicago. It's a haven for over 300 bird species and offers gentle elevation changes that provide a good workout without being overly strenuous. The trail's ability to offer a scenic escape so close to a major urban area is highly valued by local joggers.
