A lively fishing village (crab, lobster and mackerel) and the main port for the crossing to Inishbofin. The pier, designed in 1822 by the famous engineer Alexander Nimmo, is still the beating heart of the village. For cyclists, Cleggan is a perfect stop: you will find cosy pubs known for their fresh seafood and a small shop for essential provisions. Take time to wander along the quay and watch the bustle of the fishing boats.
