The temple in Songjang District was first built in 872 during the Tang Dynasty. In 1387 it was rebuilt and a pagoda was added. The pagoda has a height of approx. 46m.
At its peak the temple was very prosperous and famous in the Yangtze River area. There were more than 600 monks living and praying at the temple during that time.
