The Hood River Mountain Trail offers an easy jogging experience, guiding you through a mix of thick woods and open meadows. As you move along the route, you will discover panoramic views of Mount Hood's distinct spire and the wide Hood River Valley, filled with farms and orchards. This trail is a quick 2.7 miles (4.4 km) with an elevation gain of 185 feet (56 metres), making it an easy jog that takes about 32 minutes to complete.
When planning your visit, be aware that the trail follows rocky logging roads and crosses land owned by SDS Lumber Company. While the route is generally straightforward, signage can be minimal in some areas. Remember that motorized vehicles are not permitted on the lumber company property, but mountain bikers are welcome to share the path with you.
This route provides a unique vantage point of the entire valley, extending your view to include Mount Adams and the Columbia River. In late spring, the landscape comes alive with vibrant wildflowers, such as lupine and yellow balsamroot, adding a splash of color to your outdoor workout.
