Hiking

The state forest Rheurdt / Littard is a closed deciduous forest area. It is characterized by pedunculate oak hornbeam forests and acid beech forests and has a very low proportion of softwood. The centerpiece of the nature reserve is the 25-hectare Littard natural forest cell. In this area, no management takes place, so that wild plants and animals can develop undisturbed.

This forest area is almost completely surrounded by water. It lies like an oval, while the Littard pits run all around; also the Littardsche Kendel, the Schaephuysener Landwehr and the Nenneper Fleuth. A little further out are the Meenenkaule and the Hacksteinkaule.
