The Oregon Coast Scenic Bikeway offers a captivating road cycling journey through a rugged and diverse landscape. You'll experience vast ocean views, towering basalt sea stacks, and sandy beaches, with inland sections traversing lush old-growth forests and cranberry bogs. Keep an eye out for the unique glowing green-blue waters of the Elk River, known for its abundant salmon and trout, as you cycle through this scenic stretch.

This moderate 25.5-mile (41.0 km) route, with 1432 feet (437 metres) of elevation gain, typically takes about 1 hour and 52 minutes to complete. Be prepared for frequent ups and downs, including steady climbs, and be aware that some sections have narrow shoulders or require sharing the lane with vehicles, particularly over older bridges and through tunnels. Riding from north to south is often recommended to benefit from prevailing winds.

The bikeway is part of Oregon's pioneering Scenic Bikeway program, showcasing the state's natural beauty and cultural heritage. You'll encounter historical sites and charming coastal towns like Port Orford, recognized as the oldest town on the Oregon coast, offering amenities like coffee shops and art galleries. Don't miss the chance to visit Cape Blanco State Park, home to Oregon's oldest working lighthouse and the westernmost point in Oregon.
