Get ready for a moderate mountain biking adventure on the Raleigh Peak via Colorado Trail, covering 19.8 miles (31.8 km) with a significant elevation gain of 2501 feet (762 metres). You can expect to complete this ride in about 3 hours and 18 minutes. The route offers diverse scenery, starting with pleasant views along the South Platte River before you tackle a challenging switchback climb. As you ride, you'll pass through burn areas that open up expansive views, though these sections can be exposed. Later, find welcome shade near Reynolds Mountain and enjoy rolling terrain with wildflowers and wildlife, all while taking in great views of Long and Scraggy Peaks.

When planning your ride, be aware that this trail is primarily singletrack and, while not purpose-built for mountain biking, it offers an excellent climbing experience. Be prepared for some steep, rutted sections and technical spots, especially on descents. The burn areas you traverse can have loose, 'kitty litter gravel' and you might encounter some trail washout or erosion. Always ride with caution, particularly in these challenging spots.

This route is notable for its integration with the iconic Colorado Trail, providing a segment that showcases the region's rugged beauty. You will experience a mix of environments, from riverside paths to high-elevation burn scars that offer unique perspectives of the landscape. The trail's character, with its blend of challenging climbs and scenic descents, makes it a rewarding choice for mountain bikers seeking a true Colorado experience.
