The Mitchell Memorial Forest: A and B Loops offer a fantastic mountain biking experience through a lush wooded environment, featuring well-designed singletrack. You'll navigate through sections with root drops and log crossings on the intermediate A Loop, and tackle a challenging mile-long rock garden and tight switchbacks on the more advanced B Loop. The trails flow beautifully, providing an immersive escape into nature with varied terrain to keep things interesting.
Planning your ride here means being aware of a daily admission fee, though annual passes are available for frequent visitors. It's crucial to check trail conditions before you go, as the loops are often closed during wet or freeze-thaw periods to protect the surface. The park has improved signage and even offers a bike fix-it station, making your visit smoother.
This 6.6-mile (10.6 km) route, with 404 feet (123 metres) of elevation gain and an estimated duration of 56 minutes, holds a special place as Hamilton County's first purpose-built mountain bike trail, designed to International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) standards by local volunteers. The varying difficulties of the A and B Loops allow riders to progress, and a new bike skills course, opened in November 2025, provides an excellent spot to hone your techniques.
