Embark on a moderate hiking loop between Zubiena and Vermogno, traversing the unique glacial moraine landscape of the Serra di Ivrea. This route covers 8.6 miles (13.9 km) with an elevation gain of 918 feet (280 metres), typically taking around 3 hours and 56 minutes to complete. As you hike, you will pass through chestnut woods and potentially vineyards, enjoying picturesque views towards the Biella Alps, often with the bell tower of the 18th-century Church of San Nicolao in Zubiena visible in the distance.

This trail requires good fitness and sure-footedness, though the paths are mostly accessible. You will find two fountains along the route to quench your thirst. In Vermogno, you can also discover a sulfurous fountain, known since ancient times for its therapeutic properties, offering a unique stop during your journey.

The Serra di Ivrea is Europe's largest morainic formation, shaped by the ancient Dora Baltea glacier. This area is rich in history, particularly around Vermogno, which has a past linked to gold mining. You can explore areas within the Bessa Nature Reserve, an ancient Roman open-pit gold mine, featuring the "Ciapei Parfundà" route with its high pebble dunes and remnants of Roman camps and mines.
