The above-ground extraction of peat is referred to as peat cutting or peat cutting. This organic material, which is created in moors by the beginning of charring from dead plants, is used as a low-energy fuel to improve soil aeration in horticulture and, to a small extent, to produce textile fibers and for medicinal purposes.
