The Place de la Poissonnerie in the historic center of Saint-Malo recalls the long tradition of fishing. The centerpiece of the square is the covered fish market hall by Henri Auffret and Francis Pellerin from the post-1944 reconstruction period. Striking details include the sculpture of a small spiny dogfish at the entrance, as well as the carved fish motifs and humorous sayings on the roof beams.
