In the Venetian port of Heraklion stands the fortress of Koules. Here begins the long mole of the new harbor - about 2,400 m long - with a lighthouse that stands at the end. The pier is a popular place for a walk, especially on warm evenings, when the lights go on in the city, it is well worth a visit.
