You will pass through rolling green fields at Campogelato, offering wide panoramic views, and encounter the atmospheric stone ruins of Ritorto di Sotto and Ritorto di Sopra, where history whispers from weathered walls.
To begin your journey, you can drive to the trailhead located at Collina di Pondo, where parking is available near the sanctuary. The trail is clearly marked with red and white CAI markings, specifically number 287, guiding you along the path. It is always a good idea to check local conditions before you go, especially regarding weather, to ensure a pleasant hiking experience.
The highlight of this trail is the Santuario della Madonna degli Occhi in Collina di Pondo, a medieval sanctuary with a rich history. Legend says a miraculous spring here once restored sight to a blind shepherdess. Inside, you will find vibrant frescoes and colorful paintings that tell centuries-old stories, offering a glimpse into the region's past and spiritual heritage.
