Embark on an easy and family-friendly hike around Lago d'Ampola, a pristine nature reserve in the Ledro Valley. This loop tour covers 3.9 miles (6.3 km) with a minimal elevation gain of 198 feet (60 metres), taking about 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete. You'll follow shaded paths through "enchanted woods" and sections alongside a cycling path, enjoying an undemanding terrain suitable for all ages. The highlight is Lake Ampola itself, where a wooden pier extends over the water, offering excellent views of abundant water lilies, reeds, and the diverse aquatic life. The serene atmosphere makes this an ideal escape into nature.
For the most spectacular views, plan your visit in spring when the water lilies are in full bloom across the lake. While the trail is easy, suitable footwear is recommended for comfort on the paths. Remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and plenty of water, especially on sunny days. Starting your hike from Tiarno di Sopra provides convenient access to this peaceful loop.
This trail is also known as the "Sentiero del Troc" and offers a quiet escape from more crowded areas. Lake Ampola is a provincial nature reserve and a site of community importance (Natura 2000), recognized for its exceptional aquatic ecosystem.
