The Malghera refuge takes its name from the homonymous rural nucleus and is located at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters in the western Val Grosina. The refuge was founded at the beginning of the 20th century in response to the needs of the population and in conjunction with the construction of the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Muschio. It was originally known as "Church Houses".
